Role Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Construction Planner/Scheduler to join our growing team. As a Junior Planner/Scheduler, you will support the planning and scheduling of construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with Project Scheduling: Help to create and maintain project schedules, including preparing detailed schedules and timelines for the various stages of the construction process.
  • Monitor Project Progress: Track project milestones, deadlines, and resource allocation to ensure projects are progressing as per schedule.
  • Collaborate with Project Teams: Work closely with site managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide accurate planning support.
  • Data Entry & Reporting: Enter and update project data in planning software and generate reports that track project status, delays, and changes.
  • Support the Project Manager: Provide support to senior planners and project managers with any scheduling and planning activities, including managing change requests, identifying risks, and proposing mitigation plans.
  • Assist in Resource Planning: Help with the allocation of resources (labour, materials, equipment) based on project schedules and timelines.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that schedules and planning documents comply with company policies, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Review & Revise Schedules: Work on revisions and adjustments to project schedules as required, especially when changes occur (delays, weather impacts, etc.).
  • Site Visits: Attend site visits when necessary to understand on-the-ground progress and challenges.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Educational Background: A degree or relevant qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Alternatively, candidates with significant experience in construction planning will also be considered.
  • Experience:
    • Some experience in construction scheduling or planning (including internships or placements) would be advantageous, but not essential.
    • Familiarity with planning software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or Asta Powerproject is desirable.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse construction project data, identify potential issues, and propose practical solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness in preparing and reviewing schedules and reports.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with teams, contractors, and clients.
  • Organisational Skills: Able to work in a structured manner and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Quick to identify potential delays or risks in schedules and suggest corrective actions.
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of UK construction regulations and health & safety standards.
  • Familiarity with tendering and budgeting processes.
  • Understanding of resource management and logistics in construction.
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
